13 years of NZ broadcasting
Today, we're celebrating 13 years of broadcasting in Aotearoa New Zealand. My NZ media journey started at the University of Waikato, when I was hired to be a Teaching Fellow in the Screen and Media Studies Department. I arrived on campus on a cold wintry day, the 14th of July 2008. My contract with the university was only for one semester. But before my university stint ended, I began to go on-air at the former 106.7 FM Community Radio Hamilton. It was simulcasted on 1206 AM, as well as webcasting on www.freefm.org.nz. It wasn't a paid gig. I was a volunteer!
